November Writing Update

Hello and welcome to my first writing update in a while. These are usually small posts that I do one a month to talk about my recent writing progress, what I've been working on, as well as what's been going on inside my head.

My regular job  (unrelated to writing) has been pretty busy recently, so I haven't done a writing update for a few months. I currently have one full time job, another part-time job, and then I do my writing whenever I get the chance. I've recently started writing more by hand too, which obviously takes a lot of time.

I know that in my last post I promised to continue Tales from a Land of Gods, but my
feedback about the story has been pretty dismal so I've decided to put in on hold for a while. If you like the story and would like to see more new chapters, please feel free to leave some feedback in the comments section. It would help me a lot. I have written a lot of notes about the third part, so I would like to release a few chapters online sometime.

I've recently decided to write a free story called Diary of a Soul.
It's actually a story that I've had in my head for a long time, and I did begin writing it many years ago, but I thought it was a little dark and heavy so I decided to write How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster first instead.
This new story is about a guy who sold his soul and now exists in the Underworld with no memories of his previous life. He reflects on his life in the Underworld while running away from the beings who enslaved him.
All the chapters I've written are free on Booksie, Fictionpress, and you can also read them online on this website here. I even compiled chapters 1-10 into a free ebook that you can download here too.

I decided to start writing a free story because it's a great way to get some of my work out there on the Internet and get feedback from readers.

I have also made a paperback copy of my latest finished story How I was Murdered by a Monster King and it is now available on Amazon. I recently pulled this story off Smashwords and other ebook stores due to issues with the Smashwords formatting. The epub formatting was completely whacked no matter what I did, and the only suggestion that Smashwords has was to remove ALL formatting and start again. That would mean doing all the italics as well, which would defiantly take forever. Therefore I decided to just pull it from the website and make it available only on Amazon. It is also on Amazon Unlimited, so you can read it for free if you have Amazon Prime. It is actually pretty funny, so please check out it out on Amazon if you get the chance.

As I mentioned before, I have recently started writing all my story drafts by hand instead of using a computer. Mostly because my computer keyboard it broken, and also because I seem to put more thought into my writing and have less mistakes when I do it by hand. Computers are very useful, but if I write directly into a computer I usually still have to print it and search for typos, so in the end writing by hand doesn't take too much longer. It's also a pain to carry a laptop around in my day to day life, and a notebook is far easier to use on the train and the battery doesn't run out.
My eyesight has also degraded a lot over the years, which could also be from spending hours staring at a computer screen, and  I also don't have YouTube or Facebook to distract me when I write on paper.

I have also decided to write my stories the way I want instead of trying to appeal to people. I've discovered that selling ebooks is extremely difficult, and even getting people to read free copies is not easy. I can spend years working on a story, and the only thing I may have in the end to show for it is one book. If I reduce myself to poverty for the sake of writing one story, then I at least want to like it instead of throwing it to the back of my bookcase because I can't stand reading it.

Being an author is a difficult career, so if you enjoy my stories and would like to see more, you can always support me by buying my work. recommending it to friends, or following me on Facebook or Twitter. Even just writing a review for one of my stories that you like would help me out a lot. I hope that you continue to enjoy my work, and please check out the free material that I have on this website.
