How I was Murdered by a Monster King Chapter 9

Daisuke here. Last time we met I joined a secret organization of exorcists who hunt down evil monsters which are disguised as regular animals. My training was going great until a super powerful fox monster attacked and my teacher tried to kill me. Now my friends and the organization are accusing me of being a monster in human form, but that can’t be possible, can it?

Chapter 9

After much internal debate I decided to take Kurumi's advice seriously. If I was going to give up on Mana, than what better way to forget her than to pursue another girl immediately. Nina was my first choice. I had been considering her as a backup girlfriend all year, and now that Taisei was dating Kurumi it was the perfect opportunity for me to swoop in and sweep her off her feet. Unfortunately Nina was taller than me so I decided to borrow Taisei's metal pole in an attempt to make me look cooler. I also shoved tones of charms into my pockets to give myself a more serious exorcist look.

I dashed around headquarters looking for Nina until I found her flipping through an old textbook in the library.

"Nina," I said in the doorway while holding Taisei's pole casually over my shoulders. Nina seemed to have a thing for Taisei, so I figured impersonating him would be the fastest way to make her like me too.

"Would you consider going out with me?" I asked.

Nina looked up from her textbook and stared at me for a moment before closing the book. "Sure, why not," she said. "I think that it would be good for the both of us."

Khan and the Kingdom without Gods Chapter 6

Outside our world exists one of gods. A place where gods reign supreme and humans live like days of old.

Khan is a dashing thief who travels to a small kingdom without gods in the hope of seducing their beautiful princess. He is instead drawn to her unusual bodyguard who has a few secrets of her own. The battle between mortals and gods has only just begun.

What Khan didn't know about were the events taking place at that moment which would threaten the kingdom's existence, and his chances of getting together with Mei Fhan. Far away across the desert there was another kingdom run by a family of merciless gods. The head of this family was an elderly god with long white hair and a beard five inches long. He was dressed in enough gold and silk to support one mortal family for a lifetime, and he resided in a large mansion made of white marble on the top of a large hill. It was also home to a dozen of his relatives and a hundred mortal servants who tended to their every wim.

His family considered this god as barely tolerable in a good mood, but terrifying when things weren't going his way. Which is why everyone flinched when he lost his temper that afternoon.

HIWMBAFM Special Chapter: Shiki and the S-Chop

This is a bonus chapter, that I wrote from the point of view of Shiki Moriyama about three years ago. It didn't really turn out as well as I wanted, so it became lost on my computer, but I decided to post it only on this website. I may edit it again later on, but until then, please enjoy!

Bonus Chapter

By Shiki Moriyama

Special exorcist Agent Shiki Moriyama here. You may remember me from back when that kid Daisuke got himself kidnapped by a bunch of wolf Obake. I immediately dropped my lunch and heroically rushed halfway across the country to save the day, but Aki's student Itsuki had already dusted them by the time I arrived.

That kid Itsuki never ceases to amaze me. His quick thinking and impressive skills remind me of my old teacher, and it's almost like he can mysteriously sense where the Obake are lurking.

Until now you've unfortunately been forced to listen to the insane ramblings of young Daisuke Matsumoto, but luckily for you guys, I've come to save you from his teenage angst, miserable love life, terrible exorcist skills, and give you a more mature insight into the exorcist world. I'm here to tell you about the real hero of this story.

Me.

You may not hear much about the great Shiki Moriyama because I'm busy traveling the world on dangerous secret missions. That I'm banned from talking about. But I've got plenty of exciting stories to keep you on the edge of your seat. I even started writing my own book, until that killjoy Shinta Watanabe got his wrinkly hands on my drafts and made his underlings rip them up in my face. I'll always remember his look of joy as they tossed the pieces up into the air like an explosion.

After a three hour argument (where Shinta threatened to give that suckup Arashi Ueda my job) he finally agreed to let me tell you this one story which isn't highly classified information. Or at least I think he did. He never sent my request back with a rejection stamp, so I assume that I'm good to go.

Today I will gift you with the tale of how I ingeniously invented my famous special attack, the S-Chop.

How I was Murdered by a Monster King Chapter 8

Daisuke here. Last time we met I joined a secret organization of exorcists who hunt down evil monsters which are disguised as regular animals. My training was going great until a super powerful fox monster attacked and my teacher tried to kill me. Now my friends and the organization are accusing me of being a monster in human form, but that can’t be possible, can it?

Chapter 8

Thanks to Shuro's tutoring I managed to scrape by with a C on my next math test. Sis stuck it on the refrigerator next to Hikaru's finger painting in an attempt to encourage me. She used to do the same thing when I was in elementary school.

"And look, Dai-chan got a C on his math test, isn't that amazing," she announced to everyone during dinner in the same babyish voice she used when talking to Hikaru.

I stared at her blankly and then returned to eating my food. Sometimes I suspected that Sis hadn't fully comprehended that I wasn't seven anymore.

My school sports day was a few days later. Akito warned me not to use my new found powers at school. He said that I might draw unnecessary attention to myself which could be difficult to hide from the organization.

Whatever. It was the perfect opportunity to look cool. I was only going to be in high school once, so the last thing I wanted was to regret not making the most of it. Unfortunately Sis also knew what I was thinking and banned me from participating in any of the events.

"Come on Sis, javelin, please let me enter the javelin," I begged the day before.

"No," she said while shaking her head.

Khan and the Kingdom without Gods Chapter 5

Khan is a dashing thief who travels to a small kingdom without gods in the hope of seducing their beautiful princess. He is instead drawn to her unusual bodyguard who has a few secrets of her own. The battle between mortals and gods has only just begun.

"And that's when Mei and I started travelling together," said Nawaki. He quickly turned away and wiped his face so that Khan wouldn't see his tears. "A year later we met some guy who works for the king, and we then came here and Mei became the princess' bodyguard."

"I'm sorry about your friends kid," said Khan as he gave Nawaki a pat on the back. "I've unfortunately lost many precious comrades over the years as well."

What Khan didn't mention was that most of them had attempted to backstab or betray the thief so he abandoned them in dangerous locations. Such as the side of crumbling cliffs or in the lairs of angry gods. There was one minion who stole a girl Khan had been pursuing for months, but it wasn't Khan's fault that the bridge collapsed beneath him.

Photos of Central Japan

For my story "How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster" the setting is rural central Japan. Unlike other cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, I imagined somewhere surrounded by mountains like Gifu or rural Aichi. Most young people have moved to larger cities and the population is getting older, so there's plenty of evidence of neglect and decay. These are some pictures that I've taken on day trips. I hope they can help you to imagine the setting of "How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster."

How I was Murdered by a Monster King Chapter 7

Daisuke here. Last time we met I joined a secret organization of exorcists who hunt down evil monsters which are disguised as regular animals. My training was going great until a super powerful fox monster attacked and my teacher tried to kill me. Now my friends and the organization are accusing me of being a monster in human form, but that can’t be possible, can it?

Chapter 7

Life returned to normal once I started going back to school again. I was hanging out with my friends, training to be an exorcist, Itsuki had gone back to being my arch nemesis, and I was failing math. The whole monster thing had almost been forgotten, and against my sister's expectations Shinta didn't returned to dissect me. I was a little worried that Nina's brother would eventually figure out a way to outsmart my sister, but he instead gave up and spent most of his time trying to win the other exorcists over to his side.

"Souta my friend," he said while throwing an arm around Souta's shoulders in the hallway at headquarters. "Is it true that your uncle was best friends with the current head of the organization?"

"He was back in high school," said Souta. "Before he was eaten alive by a shark monster on a school trip, but everyone thinks it might have been a regular shark."

How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster Special Chapter Part 2

Part 2

After dark I met up with the community service club. A.k.a my cool exorcist friends who I was talking about earlier. I was also lucky enough to be paired up with Nina. Who is awesome! And nothing like that anti-social prick Itsuki. Together we merrily strolled the mountain path with bamboo trees on either side. Searching the forest for any signs of Yuto Murukami's couple eating monster.

I watched Nina's long brown hair sway behind her as her feet bounced with each step. I may have also been glancing a little further down. But I only did that once, or twice. Definitely not three times.

Nina and I actually go waaaay back. Like a whole four months. She may be two years older than me, and kind of looks like my sister, but she actually used to be one of my potential girlfriends back in my single days.

Although she's never said anything out loud, or dropped any hints, I have a feeling that she's secretly into me. Nina may be skilled at hiding her true emotions, but watching me get taken by another girl must have driven her mad with jealousy.

"It's a lot chillier out here than I expected." She rubbed her bare arms. "I should have brought a jacket."

I knew it was obviously girl code for ditch your girlfriend and hold me Daisuke, but I resisted temptation.

Khan and the Kingdom without Gods Chapter 4

Outside our world exists one of gods. A place where gods reign supreme and humans live like days of old.

Khan is a dashing thief who travels to a small kingdom without gods in the hope of seducing their beautiful princess. He is instead drawn to her unusual bodyguard who has a few secrets of her own. The battle between mortals and gods has only just begun.

So she was a god hunter, that makes sense,” said Khan. God hunters were small groups of people who travelled the countryside attacking gods. They usually consisted of young people with strong grudges against immortals. They tended to live very short and painful lives which were usually ended by the hands of a god who they couldn’t defeat.

The gods despised anyone who attempted to challenge them, so harbouring or providing for god hunters was forbidden throughout the land and was punishable by death. Most god hunters were shunned and cast out by mortals, but so were thieves, so Khan and Mei had something in common.

"Yeah, after that I travelled with them as they hunted down gods who were being mean to people,” said Nawaki sadly. “But they always made me stay behind and look after camp so I didn’t get to see much fighting. Mei was always busy following that Malik guy around so I didn’t really talk to her back then. She always agreed with everything he said like they were dating or something."

How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster Special Chapter Part 1

Hello. This is an extra chapter that I've been working on for a while. It takes place after How I was Murdered by a Monster King and it's part of my How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster 3 project. Currently my plans for a third book are pretty vague and uncertain due to the challenges of writing and selling ebooks, but I do have an idea for Daisuke's next adventure, and I would like to continue releasing some free chapters and see how things go from there.

If you would like to support this story, you can do so by purchasing the first two books, How I was Murdered by a Fox Monster and How I was Murdered by a Monster King on Amazon or an ebook store. If you've already read them, leaving a review on Goodreads or Amazon would help me out ENORMOUSLY as well.

If you've enjoyed reading my stuff for free, you can also buy me a coffee on Ko-Fi. https://ko-fi.com/mcqueenwrites

How I was Murdered by a Monster King Chapter 6

Daisuke here. Last time we met I joined a secret organization of exorcists who hunt down evil monsters which are disguised as regular animals. My training was going great until a super powerful fox monster attacked and my teacher tried to kill me. Now my friends and the organization are accusing me of being a monster in human form, but that can’t be possible, can it?

Chapter 6

After a few weeks, Sis finally managed to convince Nina's brother and Hugo to let me return to school. My sister was smart enough to wait until Shinta stopped calling up everyday to check on me, and then she launched her counter attack. Nina's brother looked like he was going to cry, but Sis threatened to tell Shinta more of his embarrassing moments if he didn't let me go back to class. Akito also managed to convince them that I was probably safe.

"Nooooooo! You can't do this to me!" Begged Nina's brother as he clung to my sister's leg in desperation. "If anyone ever finds out, the best promotion I'll ever get will be the main branch janitor!"

"I hear they've been trying to find someone to clean the outside toilet for a while now," said Hugo. "Even the janitor won't touch it."

"Please, please, think of my career!" Nina's brother cried, but my sister refused to budge.

Unfortunately they left it up to Nina's brother to explain my long absence, so he told the school that I'd caught Ebola. I think he also realized that he might need to pull me out again (in case Shinta came back to check on them), so he told everyone that there was a high chance of me regressing.

I arrived at school on Monday to find that everyone had moved their desks as far away from mine as possible. My lonely desk looked like a remote island in a sea of tables and chairs. All my classmates were standing around in groups chatting with each other, but everyone suddenly fell silent and nervously watched when I entered the classroom. I thought school would be the one place where people would treat me like I was normal, but I suddenly felt more isolated than ever.

I trudged over to my desk, sadly pulled out the chair, and sat down. I could hear the guy sitting in the desk next to me trying to subtly move his desk away until it bumped into the wall.
